.A COLD FRONT WILL SAG SOUTHWARD OVERNIGHT ALLOWING MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL TO MOVE BACK INTO PARTS OF NORTHWEST INDIANA AND SOUTHWEST LOWER MICHIGAN. THE REMNANTS OF HURRICANE IKE ARE STILL EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS THE AREA ON SUNDAY WHICH WILL BRING ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINFALL.

MANY AREAS ACROSS NORTHERN INDIANA AND SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN HAVE REPORTED BETWEEN 2 AND 7 INCHES OF RAIN SINCE FRIDAY NIGHT. AN ADDITIONAL 2 TO 5 INCHES OF RAINFALL IS VERY LIKELY THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON. THIS WILL CREATE SIGNIFICANT FLOODING
PROBLEMS…ESPECIALLY WHERE THE GROUND HAS ALREADY BEEN SATURATED AND FLOODING HAS ALREADY OCCURRED.

SIGNIFICANT RIVER FLOODING IS ALSO EXPECTED TO DEVELOP EARLY THIS WEEK IN THE AREAS WHERE THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL OCCURS. PERSONS LIVING ALONG AND NEAR RIVERS AND STREAMS IN NORTHERN INDIANA…SOUTHWEST LOWER MICHIGAN AND EXTREME NORTHWEST OHIO SHOULD
MONITOR RIVER FORECASTS AND WARNINGS FOR SPECIFIC STAGES AND CREST INFORMATION. MODERATE TO MAJOR FLOODING COULD OCCUR GIVEN THE EXPECTED HEAVY RAINFALL. THESE FORECASTS WILL BE REFINED AS THE PRECIPITATION FALLS.

Keep us posted. Wringing hands over here...

PS: IF you're up for it (and find it in time) here's a radio feed from a town hall in Anchorage (sp) where Palin's history as Gov. was discussed this weekend.

I KNOW this election ISN'T about Palin, but imagine if we had had similar town halls about Cheney before Bush/Cheney were REelected in 2004? If we had known then what we're just learning now, would it have worked out differently?
