Lawrence Welk

The Big Saturday Night at Chez Thuringer is to gather round the television and partake of the Lawrence Welk show. It is something we found accidentally that Ava really enjoys, and it turns out Dad and Mom enjoy it quite a bit too, as we both grew up watching it with our grandparents. We have watched over the last year or so, marvelling at the talent of the singers and dancers, and especially the outfits, hair and makeup, and Dad and I play a game called "What year is it?" (Not unlike other fun games we used to play like "Man or Woman?"). The greatest chance at success is to look at the clothes, figure what year they would be popular, and add 2 years. For instance, I was going for '78 last night, (but lost as it was '77) since the styles really suggested 1976.

Anyhow, the very best part is the singing and dancing. Not on the show, but by our resident entertainer, Ava P. She will go on and on, alternately trying to get Mom and /or Dad to dance with her. She is a blast. Here's some stills of some of her sweet moves. (ps in reference to the coffee shop in above post, Ava did entertain the staff and patrons of the Coliseum Starbucks with her sweet moves).
